Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club
As Captain of the oldest and most revered golf club in Stratford upon Avon, I warmly welcome both visitors and societies to enjoy our very special course and club.
Stratford on Avon golf Club was founded in 1894 but was moved to its present site, off Tiddington Road, when it was formally opened in 1925. Only a few years later our Captain was the inspirational Samuel Ryder, inaugurator of the famous Ryder Cup matches, held every two years between the top professional golfers of America and of the UK and Europe, and now the most coveted team prize in our sport.
We have a challenging yet very picturesque par 72 course, respected and admired by both low and high handicap golfers alike. The fairways are lined by a variety of mature ornamental trees and our sandy, easy draining subsoil enables play virtually all year round.
The general management of the Club is in the hands of Dan Hacker, our Club Manager and his team. The course is managed by the Head Greenkeeper Chris Bromley, the teaching, shop and some of the competition work by the Professional Julian Dodsworth. A friendly service is always available at our bar with Paul Robson and Shirley Hughes. Catering is provided by an independent outside caterer, Jo Wheelwright-Horne.
